Case #1: Composite Bonding with Internal Whitening

This was a beautiful young lady who came to us complaining she was unhappy with the way her front two teeth looked. After detailed discussions we decided she only wanted to improve her smile by working only on her front two teeth (central incisors).

While the patient had budget concerns and could not afford ceramic veneers, we advised an alternative approach: One of her upper right central incisor was dark and discoloured giving the tooth a dark appearance. This tooth was already root filled ( Root Canal treated ) so we advised her to first undergo a few sessions if internal teeth whitening. This is a procedure where whitening gel is placed inside the tooth to whiten and lighten the tooth from inside, and to help match the colour with the neighboring natural teeth.

Once this shade was matched, we simply removed the old composite bonding and did fresh composite bonding on her two front teeth only, giving better shapes, and textures and elevating the overall appearance of the smile. The key in this case was the use of ethical composite bonding and using internal teeth whitening to improve the colour of the darkened tooth prior to the composite bonding.
