Case #4: Gum Surgery, Removal of existing Composite Bonding

This patient presented to our practice wanting to improve her smile. On clinical examination, we observed the patient had small lateral incisors, asymmetry in her gum levels and existing poor composite bonding.

We advised her that it would be ideal to first do a minor gum lift surgery on her lateral incisors, that would help us gain soft tissue symmetry when she smiles as her lateral incisors look small in comparison to her central incisors. Once the gums were lifted, we stripped down her existing composite bonding to reveal her lateral incisors were small teeth, known as peg laterals.

We proceeded to do fresh composite bonding on her front 4 teeth only, to give symmetry and a new smile to the patient. As you can see her new smile is a lot more symmetrical, with better shapes, and a more softer more symmetrical smile.
